A strong password is one of the most basic things you can do to protect yourself online. A cracker will attempt to guess a password by first trying some basic, well known passwords. They will also attempt to gain access by finding personal data about you, some of which can be found online. By utilizing a strong password, not based on personal information, you are creating a roadblock for anyone trying to access your online presence(s).
This particular generator utilizes a database of english words, however. What makes it different?
First, not the whole word is used. Next, certain characters are converted to a numeric "equivalent". For example Kathleen becomes K@thl33n. Finally, a "salt" is added at the end. All three of these methods applied to the generated password help to create a more secure password.
