Coming Soon: Klickitat

Report Back to Forum Back to All Forums

Klickitat is a command-line driven directory mirroring tool. Basically, you specify a single "master", and as many "targets" as you want, and the the contents of the targets will be checked against the contents of the master. If a file is missing, it will be copied from the master to the target. If a file has an incorrect/mismatched date/time stamp, it will be copied from the master to the target. I threw this together to keep an eye on some files for a production application at my place of business, and thought it would some other folks might find it useful. Since the app is command-line driven (or console mode), it is a simple matter to use the Windows task scheduler to make this happen at a regular interval. Added Bonus!: The files that I monitor are updated once per week. The package contains *all* files, but not new versions of the all files. That makes sense, right? So only files that are *different* are copied. Cuts down on bandwidth utilization, too, I think. I'm just putting the finishing touches on it, so watch the front page for an article about it.

Meh. Single purpose program.

Robocopy does a much more thorough job of it.
