Howcast

Howcast empowers people with engaging, useful how-to information wherever, whenever they need to know how.

HowStuffWorks

HowStuffWorks got its start in 1998 at a college professor's kitchen table. From there, we quickly grew into an award-winning source of unbiased, reliable, easy-to-understand answers and explanations of how the world actually works. Today, our writers, editors, podcasters and video hosts share all the things we're most excited to learn about with nearly 30 million visitors to the site each month. Learn more about our authors, and maybe even become one yourself.

Instructables

The seeds of Instructables germinated at the MIT Media Lab as the future founders of Squid Labs built places to share their projects, connect with others, and make an impact on the world. One of these early places was a blog Zeroprestige, which was an open source hardware experiment for kitesurfing. Here they documented their hand-sewn kites, plywood boards, and other general mayhem that happens when PhDs and high winds collide.

wikiHow

wikiHow is a worldwide collaboration of thousands of people focused on one goal: teaching anyone in the world how to do anything. Everything you read on wikiHow was written by someone who wanted to help someone else.

WonderHowTo

We launched WonderHowTo in January 2008 with our own money, and later, with professional backing from General Catalyst. Given our backgrounds in television programming, motion graphics, and software development, early on we chose to pursue instructional topics we were most curious about. With an original taxonomy of 476 categories, sometimes we wandered pretty far off the reservation. But we always kept exploring. More recently, we have chosen to narrow our focus into fewer verticals we found genuinely intriguing, inherently dynamic (and not evergreen), and ripe for future innovation.
