Windows 98 and later Windows versions contain a feature known as Windows Update, which allows users to update Windows specific software. With this modification you can remove access to this feature from the settings sub-menu.
Open your registry and find the key below.
Create a new binary value named "NoWindowsUpdate" and set the new value to equal "01 00 00 00".
Refresh your desktop, or restart your Windows session for the modification to take affect.

Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
Value Name: NoWindowsUpdate
Data Type: REG_BINARY
Data: 01 00 00 00 (to disable access)
