You can resize partitions using the Disk Management tool in Windows Vista without having to reformat your drive.

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start orb button.

  2. Right-click on Computer and click Manage.

  3. If prompted by UAC, enter password or click Continue.

  4. Under Computer Management, click the plus sign next to Storage and then click Disk Management.

  5. Right-click on the partition that you wish to resize and select either Extend Volume or Shrink Volume and change the size of the partition.

  6. You can now enter the amount of space you wish to Extend or Shrink the volume.
