By default Windows 9x enables the function keys on boot for 2 seconds, these keys allow you to control the boot process.
1. Change the attributes for MSDOS.SYS so it is not 'Read Only', MSDOS.SYS is found in the root directory of your C:\ drive. Open the file using Notepad or another text editor (not Microsoft Word or any word processor).
2. Change the value of 'BootDelay=' to a value representing the number of seconds to make the keys available. eg. To enable the keys for 5 seconds change the value to 'BootDelay=5'
3. Changes will take place on the next reboot.
