How to Cancel your Microsoft 365 Subscription
Microsoft 365 is a great tool for many people, but there might come a time when you no longer need it. Whether you're switching to a different service or simply looking to save some money, cancelling your Microsoft 365 subscription is a straightforward process.
Before You Cancel
- Check your plan
There are different Microsoft 365 plans available. Understanding yours (Personal, Family, etc.) will help you navigate the cancellation process. - Data backup
If you use OneDrive storage with your subscription, make sure to back up any important files before cancelling. You won't lose access immediately, but you'll lose access to additional storage after your subscription expires.
Canceling Your Subscription
- Head to the Microsoft Services & subscriptions page (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/cancel-your-microsoft-subscription-c2c6b0e3-cab3-cb98-d83e-c9ad54620530). You'll need to sign in with the Microsoft account you used to purchase the subscription.
- Find your Microsoft 365 subscription in the list and click "Manage."
- Look for a button that says "Cancel" or "Upgrade or Cancel" (depending on your plan). Click that button.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cancellation. You may be asked to choose a reason for cancelling or provide some feedback.
Important Notes
- Cancelling your subscription won't immediately cut off your access to Microsoft 365. You'll be able to keep using it until your current subscription period ends.
- If you don't see a "Cancel" option, but instead see "Turn on recurring billing," your subscription is already set to expire at a specific date. You won't be charged again after that date.
